This is a beautiful chainsaw carved mount of a moose head. The difference between this mount pictured (MHM2) and the original style (MHM) is that this one has some additional carving on his neck and nose to give it a bit of a furred up look and is sprayed with a matte finish instead of a satin sheen. It is all carved out of pine and the antlers are carved seperately. When it is shipped it will arrive in two boxes; one for the head and one for the antlers. You will need to screw the antlers in yourself upon arrival.
The spread of the antlers is approximately 34" and the size of the head is about 30" from the tip of the nose to the back of the neck where it mounts to the wall.
THE MOUNT IN THE MAKING:
Our mounts are carved out of pine. They are cut out with a chainsaw and then placed in a kiln to dry. Once the drying process is complete, we continue to detail them using various grinders and sanders, as well as carving knives.
We then mix pigment with Marine Spar Varnish to give the moose its color. After doing the detail painting where needed, we then clearcoat the entire piece with the spar varnish which makes your piece suitable for the great outdoors as well as in the house!
This moose is made by artist Andy Kosel, from The Country Workshop out of Red Lodge, Montana.
